Gigi Hadid has signed as the new Reebok brand ambassador for the #perfectnever movement campagne. She is worldwide known for being a famous model, Kendall Jenner’s BFF and one of many in Taylor Swifts girl squad, but before all the flashing lights and strutting her jaw dropping body down the catwalks, Gigi was very into her sports and even captained the Varsity volleyball team whilst in high school.
“Working out isn’t only physical for me. It’s mental. It helps me escape the noise in my head. It’s the only time my mind goes quiet.”
Like for Gigi, many use fitness as an escape, a way to refocus their busy schedule and to “drown out any negativity” thrown at them. Together Hadid and Reebok want to encourage women to accept their imperfections and setbacks and turn them into motivation and to embrace “inner strength, grit and determination”
“When I was a competitive athlete, I used to be so focused on being perfect that my coaches would take me out of competing all together. I’d focus on my mistakes which would breed more missteps – a domino effect. Until I learned to change the channel, to re-focus, re-set. It was my mistakes, my imperfections that motivated me most.”
The #perfectnever movement was first launched in July 2016 with Ronda Rousey. Ronda’s campagne was raw and shattered the illusion that women were perfect and encouraged them to be their true selves. Gigi Hadid is the second partnerships with Reebok and will continue to empower women with the #perfectnever movement throughout 2016.
“Your comments won’t get me down,” she told critics via Instagram this summer, “but next time, please think about the young women who may read body-judgment comments and judge themselves as they see their bodies growing and therefore naturally changing, too.”
