So way back when, Nike Women once posted a picture of plus size model Paloma Elsesser wearing a sports bra to its Instagram page. The picture made the rounds and soon became a talking point. A positive one at that. Nike appeared to listen to the social media gods and the demand of a Nike plus size range, and low and behold, a year later we have said collection.
The collection is made up of 44 items ranging from sports bras, leggings, running trousers and tops, as well as an athleisure range. All items are currently available in X up to 3XL. Nike has taken the step to allow all athletes of different body shapes and sizes to feel comfortable and stylish in the perfect fitting gym kit.
The range is designed with Nike’s most innovative fabrics to allow you to keep moving and feel your most confident whilst doing so.
“Nike recognises that women are stronger, bolder and more outspoken than ever. In today’s world, sport is no longer something that she does, it’s who she is. The days where we have to add ‘female’ before ‘athlete’ are over. She is an athlete, period. And having helped fuel this cultural shift, we celebrate these athletes’ diversity, from ethnicity to body shape.”
Ladies, @nikewomen now have a plus size range! I'm beyond proud to have been chosen to collaborate with such a huge brand. This new release has made the brand more reachable and available to everyone, no confines, no restrictions, no judgements. This is, in hope, the first step for a new movement in plus size sportswear.
