Tell us a little bit about yourself
My name is Katharina, I am a 25 year old designer on the Gold Coast, Australia. I have a passion for design and a life long love affair with fitness and living a balanced lifestyle. When I first finished school I went to university and completed an Associate Degree in Law (Paralegal Studies). I love my family, I love my friends, I enjoy travelling, learning new things, having new experiences and going on adventures. My wish is to inspire others, radiate a positive energy as I care a lot for other people and love to see others smile, achieving their ambitions. I believe I am an old soul and believe to practice what your preach – to treat others the way you would like to be treated.
What has inspired you to design an activewear brand?
Femme Body was created from me having the constant crave of being active along with living the life I love. Being creative has always been a passion of mine – an area I was determined to bring to life and create a world for myself and others.
I guess you could say from the love I have for fitness, living a healthy, balanced lifestyle, the endorphin rush feeling you get after exercising, my love of fashion and being on trend and wanting to inspire women are all contributing factors leading me to create an active wear brand for women.
What are some of the technical benefits to Femme Body? And why is this important when training.
Our first range provides items that are comfortable and unique using mesh fabrics, lightweight fabrication that deliver a first class quality feel. I wanted to create a range of active wear that was on trend, and for our customers to feel secure, confident and comfortable.
Being active and leading a healthy lifestyle is FUN. I believe that it’s important to be comfortable whilst working out and for women to be comfortable in their own skin as self-love is a vital component to your wellbeing. I think we can all agree that when we are comfortable, we are confident, and when we are confident we radiate an energy that pushes us towards our goals.
One of the fabrics used in a couple of our items is bamboo fibre – the fabric is so soft and has a luxurious feel, which almost feels like you are wearing nothing at all!
How do you motivate yourself to keep fit?
Anyone that knows me knows I’m always on the go, and my weeks are pretty busy as I work two jobs, run the business (Femme Body), whilst keeping myself active and having some fun.
Being organised, prioritising and having a routine is something I practice daily and believe is an element to success. Back when I completed my uni degree I was working full time and studying by correspondence and I strongly believed that if I could get up at 5am to go to the gym, I could get up at 5am to watch a lecture and that mentality has stuck with me – knowing I can do anything if I put my mind to it as I don’t believe in limitations.
I keep myself motivated by remembering all my goals – I keep post-it’s all around my house with positive quotes, my ambitions and the things I want to achieve so I can constantly see them plus I generally love the feeling it gives me!
My day usually starts around 5am – I get up, read an affirmation for the day, then go to the gym from about 5.30-6.30am – it just always sets my day. On different days I train different body parts however I’ll always start by warming up and stretching prior to weight training.
I then will come home and make breakfast (or sometimes I will prepare the night before when I’m prepping my other meals).
I then go to work from 8am- 4pm – and on my breaks I’ll reply to Femme Body emails or work on things that need to be done for the business. I set reminders in my phone of things I need to complete.
I’m addicted to green mint/peppermint tea too – so I usually have one with every meal and drink throughout the day.
If I don’t do weight training in the morning I’ll do some cardio (walking, running or skipping) and then do weights in the afternoon.
Even on my busiest days I always try and find the time to squeeze some sort of exercise into my regime – even if it’s just a walk for 20 minutes. It’s important to refresh your mind and reset your body – it’s all about keeping that balance for yourself.
I always look at my fitness/personal goals sitting at the top of a mountain and as I am climbing a mountain or riding a bike up there – sure we may face some challenges or experience some resistance however there are always different roads to lead to your goals and sometimes it’s knowing that you are learning and having that experience along the way.
Can you share with us your top three tips on getting and staying fit?
1. Having a positive mind – this is definitely my number one! Mental health and spreading good vibes within yourself and to others is such an important element in life and when you are on your fitness journey. If you are in a positive mind -set and feel good, you feel good about working out and achieving your personal goals and will lead you to your own accomplishments. I’m always reviewing my personal goals and surrounding myself with positive affirmations – It’s important not to compare your journey to someone else’s as YOUR journey is unique and won’t be the exact same.
2. Eat well and have balance – so this includes nourishing your body with a variety of wholesome foods suited to your body’s requirements and keeping hydrated. I eat to what is suited for my body and don’t necessarily have a “diet”. Sure I will also include things like chocolate from time to time as it is something I love and enjoy. I don’t feel that we should have to deprive ourselves from something – there should be balance in everyone’s lifestyle. If you’re eating well and exercising then you should not have to deprive yourself from certain foods.
3. Regular Exercise – exercising regularly gives you such an awesome feeling and increases your energy levels. I try and change it up too so I’m always doing something different.
What are your favourite pieces from Femme Body?
If you had to wear three trainers for the rest of your life what would they be and why?
Ok so I chose 4 shoes! You can never have too many shoes right?…
Nike Air Max Thea in White I love white shoes! These are such a crisp, clean and stylish design and go with everything.
Nike Free 5.0 A comfortable shoe, that can be worn as an everyday shoe or whilst training!
ASIC Gel Kayano 22 love this style of shoe from Asics as they have great support and my feet do tend to roll.
Who is on top of your instagram fitspo list?
I would have to say @IzaGoulart because she has such a beautiful energy about her and always inspires me with her strength and motivation.
Can you share with us your favourite tune you listen to get motivated when you train?
Share with us your favourite quick healthy recipe
I love turkey mince (you can use beef as well) – such a quick, tasty, easy recipe
- turkey or beef mince
- taco seasoning sachet
- parsley and basil
* always wash veggies prior to use
Dice and peel the onion, zucchini, carrot and cut the capsicum. Spray a pan with coconut oil and cook until softer.
Whilst this is cooking I chop up the parsley and the basil
Take out the veggies, place in bowl and place the mince in the pan and stir around until cooked – season with oregano.
Once the mince is cooked I place all the veggies back in the pan with the mince and stir together. I then season the mixture with taco seasoning and stir in the basil and parsley. You can also top with avocado as well – so simple and delicious!
Sometimes I may even eat this for breakfast as well.
Where to next?
One of the goals for myself is to travel and create new ideas, inspiration, adventures and see where I can take Femme Body with me. One of the goals for Femme Body is to be able to spread the brand and create global recognition. Our aim is to inspire women in their active journey every day where they feel secure, confident and comfortable in our items. I’m also working on our next range and working towards creating our own Femme Body fabric.
